Before you launch any Copilot initiative, define how you will measure value. If you can’t clearly describe how value will be measured, that opportunity is not ready to be a priority.
Use three measurement lenses:
1. Business impact
Track bottom-line and operational metrics such as:
- Revenue per seller
- Cost per case
- Cycle time reduction (e.g., faster proposal creation, faster case resolution)
- Throughput increases (more cases, tickets, or tasks handled)
- IT operations cost savings
2. Adoption
Look beyond “Did people use it?” and monitor:
- Active usage rates
- Repeat usage frequency
- Share of eligible users who are engaging
- Depth of feature utilization
3. Quality and risk
To support responsible AI deployment, track:
- Error rates
- Escalation frequency
- Compliance adherence scores
- User satisfaction levels
To manage and scale what works:
- Set a baseline for key metrics before launch.
- Review progress monthly or quarterly to see which Copilot bets are creating value.
- Double down on initiatives that show clear impact.
- Fix or stop those that are not delivering.
- Move successful bets from pilot into your standard operating model.
Leadership plays a key role by communicating the AI vision, using Copilot personally, and staying accountable for measuring and scaling the initiatives that truly create value.
